Fingal Dublin’s cultural heritage is rich and diverse. There is a strong and enduring maritime tradition of coastal communities with a long and varied history from the time of the first settlers to the present day. It includes the ancient tradition of mumming and a unique linguistic heritage in both Irish and English. It includes our traditional music. It includes our place names all of which tell a local story, such as the uniquely descriptive townland name of Passifyoucan.
There are a number of museums with valuable collections in the area, theatres producing Irish and international plays annually and the County Council’s archives which are repository for valuable collections of documents relating estate papers, local history and genealogy .
